Roennfeldt Road Shiraz
Wine
Greenock Creek Roennfeldt Road Shiraz is the flagship wine that launched Greenock Creek onto the world stage. The fruit is sourced from a tiny plot of century old vines, grown along Roennfeldt Road.
The grapes are hand harvested and destemmed without being crushed. They ferment in open concrete fermenters for up to 10 days with pump overs, the temperature kept at 20-22°C.
The wine is drained and pressed in a wooden basket press. Keeping the free run and pressings separate, it is racked to new French oak hogsheads to age for 36 months. One week before bottling, the barrels are blended.
The wine matures in bottle for a further 24 months. At the time of release, the wine has aged in barrel and bottle for over five years.
Dark purple, Greenock Creek Roennfeldt Road Shiraz is powerful and complex, with layers of ripe berry and spice framed by silky tannins and a lingering vanilla oak sweetness.
It has received the perfect score of 100 points from acclaimed American wine critic Robert Parker on multiple occasions. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
